Boemo Lunga

Boemo Lunga is an experimental artist born and raised in Mmadinare, in the Central District of
Botswana. Taking inspiration from everyday life in his home country, he uses charcoal, oil paintings,
newspapers, fabric, and coffee to portray powerful abstract representations.

After discovering his talent at Mmadinare Senior School during a challenge to draw a portrait of himself, he began pursuing art full-time.

In 2018, Lunga participated in his first group exhibit with Ronald Kegomoditswe and has since been featured in multiple local exhibitions such as Francistown Arts Meet (2019) and Thapong Members Exhibition (2020). He showcased two solo exhibitions titled ‘Shimi’ and ‘Kopano’ at The Duck in Maun in 2021 and 2022 consecutively. His work has been acquired by government and private entities, including the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport & Culture Development; Customary
Court of Appeal; Ministry of Health; and Ninety 3rd Studio in Setlhoa Village.

His latest solo exhibition was supported by Neelo Management & Consultancy and drew attention from print media, radio, as well as national TV Station.

We are proud to have Boemo in 1966 Art Gallery.
